Lucky Breeze Celebrating the R34 Centenary
Just two weeks after Alcock & Brown completed their transatlantic flight, the R34 Airship lifted off from East Fortune bound for USA. It carried the first fee paying passengers and was to accomplish the first two-way crossing of the Atlantic by air. Captained by Major (Lucky Breeze) GH Scott AFC, the flight arrived at Long Island with a stowaway and a small cat amongst its cargo and only a few gallons of fuel left in its tanks.
Our narrator – Mike Scott Rumble FCMI is the great nephew of GH Scott and has a long held interest in the development of airships and the part they played in the development of aviation in the UK.
